White River Valley Electric Cooperative held a ribbon cutting on Thursday, February 6, to dedicate their new building serving the residents of Christian County.  The Nixa Chamber of Commerce, Ozark Chamber of Commerce, and Sparta    Chamber of Commerce along with local business leaders and partners were in attendance to help celebrate the occasion.

In the 1980’s White River Valley Electric Cooperative’s membership in Christian County was growing fast.  In 1985, the WRVEC Board of Directors saw a need to have a building to better serve members living in the area.  The previous building, located on Highway 14 in Ozark, opened the first week of April 1986.  The new building was built on the property which housed the previous building.  Demolition of the old building began October 28, 2024. The new building is 13,200 square feet and has 12 employees.

“While the old building served us well for nearly 40 years, the needs of our organization and the community have changed”, said White River Valley Electric Cooperative CEO Chris Hamon.  “Our new building is built to withstand the growth of rural Christian County.  As one of the fastest growing counties in the state of Missouri, we’re making sure we do our part to support the future demands of a fast-changing community.”

Part of the future growth includes providing fiber internet to rural areas of Christian County.  White River Valley Electric Cooperative’s subsidiary, White River Connect, is currently building a high-speed fiber network that will include 4,200 miles of fiber line in Christian, Douglas, Ozark, Stone, and Taney Counties.  This robust network will provide new opportunities for members who have little to no access to high-speed internet.
