Communications student intern (paid internship) – BRANSON

INTERNSHIP SUMMARY

To assist the communications department on all activities pertaining to WRVEC’s marketing and member facing programs, while enhancing the WRVEC Mission and Vision Statements

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the communications & member engagement team on specific projects including, but not limited to:
    • Internal and external communications, public relations, and marketing projects; including reporting, writing, editing, research, proofreading, archiving, videography, and photography.
    • Special events planning and execution; website content; graphic design; and program presentations.
  • Internship participants will gain:
    • Knowledge of communication/pr/marketing applied within a professional environment.
    • Experience the cooperative difference while applying consumer-driven best practices to elicit engagement from various target audiences.
    • Develop administrative, professional, and interpersonal skills needed to organize, analyze, and communicate with others in a productive and efficient manner.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education

  • Enrolled in a College/University seeking a bachelor’s degree in a Communications related field and currently maintaining a cumulative GPA of at least a B+. Must provide current transcripts

Experience

  • Candidates with Journalism experience preferred, including experience with AP style, interviewing and fact checking. Working knowledge of social media and accompanying visual arts. Excellent oral and written communication skills and computer experience with Word required. Knowledge of Adobe suite preferred.

Abilities and Skills

  • Must have the ability to analyze internal information. Maintain an organized work environment, demonstrate the willingness to listen/learn and maintain a positive attitude.

Other Requirements

  • Work during normal office hours of 8:00 am – 4:30 pm and occasional travel.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT

  • Inside office environment with regular posted office hours and occasional overtime, including weekends and holidays if necessary.

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND DEXTERITY

  • Frequent physical activity to include sitting at a desk for prolonged periods of time, standing, walking, stooping, bending, lifting, and carrying materials under fifteen pounds.

MACHINES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT

  • Capable of operating a personal computer, calculator, printer, copy machine, telephone, shredder, and any other required office equipment.

VISUAL ACUITY, HEARING, AND SPEAKING

  • Comfortable in speaking on the telephone and via online conference tools. Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately for work and safety compliance.

ENVIRONMENT/WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Majority of work will be performed indoors. Normal office safety precautions and practices are required. Position may require travel to acquire supplies from time to time. The regular work schedule is Monday through Friday.

 

Note: This job description is for a Student Internship. This is a temporary position offering no more than 336 total hours of employment. This position is a paid position, yet no benefits are provided with such position.  Management retains the right to assign or reassign duties and/or responsibilities at any time.
