JOB SUMMARY

Provide technical support for the organization’s technology systems, including hardware, software, and peripherals, to ensure high productivity and efficiency. Plan, maintain, implement, and upgrade enterprise software systems. Analyze and address the organization’s system needs. Administer the help desk ticketing system, ensuring tickets are assigned and followed up on.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist with the selection, installation, support, and maintenance of all IT hardware, software, network, and client systems during both business and non-business hours.
    • Assess and cultivate long-term strategic goals for system development in conjunction with end-users, managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
    • Analyze user requirements, design functional specifications, and implement database and GIS solutions.
    • Manage projects ensuring functionality meet business requirements.
    • Assist Executive Staff or Board of Directors in annual budgeting, strategic planning, and implementation.
    • Ensure systems are optimized, have high availability and latest updates are applied.
    • Schedule and implement upgrades for enterprise systems.
    • Plan and implement capacity and resource expansion to ensure scalability.
    • Identify inefficiencies in systems and leverage solutions.
    • Design, deploy and maintain maps, data structures, forms, reports, and queries based on enterprise data including potentially sensitive information, as necessary for senior staff.
    • Perform cost estimates for data migration to new systems during upgrades. Plan and coordinate these migrations.
    • Design redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery to ensure effective availability, protection, and integrity of data assets.
    • Organize information including those that contain personnel, financial, and other confidential data while maintaining the security and confidentiality of all data and conclusions derived from that data.
    • Mentor and/or provide leadership to junior members of the team.
    • Must maintain background check as per WRVEC policy to allow for “All access” to systems and data.
    • Must keep up to date with knowledge of current technologies.
    • Administer Help Desk Ticketing System. Assign and follow up on support requests.  Ensure tickets are closed in a timely manner.
    • Respond and resolve IT Support requests, calls, and tickets.
    • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    • Education – Must have accredited college diploma or degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or computer engineering and/or two years equivalent work experience.
    • Experience – Must possess technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems. Must have extensive software and hardware support experience. Minimum two years of database experience to include Microsoft SQL and Oracle SQL. Must have hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience. Knowledge of the electrical distribution system.  Knowledge of NISC iVue/Connect and electric distribution preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT

    • Inside office environment with regular posted office hours and occasional overtime, including weekends, and holidays if necessary.
    • This job will require sitting for long periods of time.
    • Hours may vary to include after-hours support, outage mitigation, and project implementation.

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND DEXTERITY

    • Frequent physical activity to include sitting at a desk for prolonged periods of time, standing, walking, stooping, bending, lifting, and carrying materials under fifteen pounds.
    • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.
    • Lifting and transporting moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.

MACHINES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT

    • Capable of operating a personal computer, a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, calculator, printer, copy machine, telephone, shredder, and any other required office equipment.

VISUAL ACUITY, HEARING, AND SPEAKING

    • Comfortable in speaking on the telephone and via online conference tools. Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately for work and safety compliance.

ENVIRONMENT/WORKING CONDITIONS

    • Majority of work will be done indoors. Normal office safety precautions and practices are required. Position may require travel to acquire supplies from time to time. The regular work schedule is Monday through Friday.
